On the night of January 8, 2024, the Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine, using cruise, aviation, ballistic, and guided anti-aircraft missiles, as well as strike UAVs.
This is reported by the Air Defence Forces of Ukraine. A total of 59 air attack assets were recorded:
8 strike UAVs of the 'Shahed-136/131' type from the area of ââPrimorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia.
7 guided anti-aircraft missiles S-300/S-400 from the Belgorod region, Russia.
4 aeroballistic missiles Kh-47M2 'Kinzhal' from four MiG-31K aircraft (launch area - Ryazan, Tambov).
24 cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 from 11 Tu-95MS strategic bombers (launch areas - Engels, Russia).
8 cruise missiles Kh-22 from Tu-22M3 bombers from the Belgorod region, Russia.
6 ballistic missiles 'Iskander-M' from the areas of Jankoy, Chauda - Crimea.
2 guided aviation missiles Kh-31P from tactical aviation aircraft (launch area - Belgorod region).
Critical infrastructure, industrial civilian, and military objects were targeted.
Ukrainian military successfully intercepted 18 out of 24 cruise missiles (X-101/X-555/X-55), but note that 'not all enemy missiles that were not intercepted reached their targets.'
Additionally, all eight strike UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type launched by Russian forces were successfully shot down overnight in southern Ukraine.
'This time the enemy attacked various regions of Ukraine, with ballistic trajectory missiles directed towards Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions,' report Ukrainian military.
The latest mass air attack in Ukraine resulted in four fatalities, with over 30 people injured.
