Since February 24, seven planes have crashed outside the front, Verstka writes.

During the seven months of the war, the Ministry of Defense lost as many fighters and attack aircraft of the Su family for reasons not related to hostilities as in the previous five years. Last week, two Su planes crashed at the same time; both times, they crashed into residential areas.

According to journalists' calculations, Sunday's Su-30 crash in Irkutsk was the fourth in the last month alone. Also, last week, a Su-34 crashed in the courtyard of a residential building in Yeysk in the Krasnodar Territory. As a result, 15 people died.

Sukhoi military aircraft is the backbone of Russian military aviation. According to the Military Balance directory for 2022, Russia had more than 800 fighters and attack aircraft of the Su family in service - about twice as many as aircraft of the MiG family.

Since the beginning of the war, Russia has also lost one MiG-31 - on April 8, a military aircraft crashed in the Leningrad region. This was at least the fifth catastrophe of this family of fighters over the past five years.

A complete list of accidents of Sukhoi military aircraft after February 24:

  • October 23 - In Irkutsk, the Su-30 fell on a private house; there were no residents in the building, and both pilots died.
  • October 17 - In Yeysk, a Su-34 crashed in the courtyard of a residential building, killing 15 people.
  • October 9 - A Su-24 crashed in the Rostov region, no one died, the pilots ejected.
  • October 9 - The second Su-25 crash of the day in the Rostov region. Officially, the authorities did not report the accident.
  • September 11 - Su-34 crashed in Crimea; the pilots survived. Baza wrote about the crash, but the authorities did not report anything about the incident.
  • June 21 - Su-25 crashed in the Rostov region.
  • June 17 - A Su-25 crashed in the Belgorod region, and the pilot managed to eject.

Over the past five years, judging by open data, seven Sukhoi military aircraft have crashed in Russia.

On August 27, 2021, a Su-24 crashed near Perm during a scheduled flight for repairs. On October 21, 2020, a Su-34 crashed in the Khabarovsk Territory. In September of the same year, a Su-30 crashed in the Tver region. In March 2020, a Su-27 crashed into the Black Sea near Feodosia. Two more disasters occurred in 2019 - in September, a Su-25UB crashed in the Stavropol Territory, and in January, two Su-34s collided in the Far East in the sky.
