12th Odessa International Film Festival together with Dovzhenko Centre presents the programme of the Ukrainian retrospective "Independents", 14-21 August.
The programme "Independents" presents an outstanding Ukrainian feature and short films, which were created during 30 years of its independence. The list of films included in the retrospective was formed from the list of the 100 best films in the history of Ukrainian cinema, compiled based on the results of a survey by the Dovzhenko Centre and the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine of 71 film experts.
The programme of the retrospective "Independents" of the 12th OIFF includes seven feature films:
- “A Friend of the Deceased” by Vyacheslav Kryshtofovych (1995)
- “The Tribe” by Myroslav Slaboshpytsky (2014)
- “The Earth Is Blue as an Orange” by Iryna Tsilyk (2020)
- “My Joy” by Serhiy Loznytsia (2010)
- “Oxygen Famine” by Andriy Donchyk (1991)
- “Shamara” by Natalia Andriichenko (1994)
- “Atlantis” by Valentin Vasyanovich (2019)

Also within the programme of the retrospective "Independents" a selection of a short meter will be shown:
- “Travelers” by Igor Strembitsky (2005)
- “Cross” by Marina Vroda (2011)
- “The Ninth Number Tram Went” by Stepan Koval (2002)
- “Love” by Nikita Lyskov (2019)
- “Letter to America” by Kira Muratova (1999)
- “Road will be covered with snow” by Yevhen Syvokon (2004)
- the last episode of the cult Ukrainian TV series "Cossacks" - "How the Cossacks played hockey", directed by Volodymyr Dakhno and Tadeusz Pavlenko

The programme "Independents" will be shown during the 12th OIFF from 14 to 21 August and dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence. With the support of the Ukrainian StateFilm Agency.
