The iconic British director Terry Gilliam will arrive at the Odessa Film Festival. As part of the 12th Odesa International Film Festival, a screening of the program "In Honour of Terry Gilliam" will take place, which includes 6 films by the famous British film director.
In particular, the following films will be shown:
- Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, 1983
Stages of life described in various sketches and songs by Monty Python comedy troupe . The seven parts of life cover birth, adulthood, war, middle age, organ transplantation, old age and death, with a satirical view of medicine, the church, the army, big business, sex education and more.
- Brazil, 1985
In an anti-utopian future, where technologies dominate and love is forbidden, the dreamy functionary becomes a tragic victim of his own romantic illusions. When he is instructed to fix a mess caused by a typo, he finds himself in the grip of a nightmarish bureaucracy.
- The Fisher King, 1991
When New York DJ Jack Lucas accidentally leads a listener to a mass murder, his self-confidence and career are shattered. Three years later, he is saved from suicide by the mad Perry, who insists that the Holy Grail is hidden somewhere in Manhattan.
- Twelve Monkeys, 1995

- Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, 1998
Due to an editorial assignment, the journalist and his assistant go on a business trip to Las Vegas. Soon a suitcase of dizzying pharmaceuticals and continuous neon make them forget about the reason for the trip. Based on the legendary book by Hunter S. Thompson.
- The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, 2018
The cynical director of advertising Toby finds himself trapped in the outrageous delusions of an old Spanish shoemaker who considers himself Don Quixote. He is forced to face the tragic consequences of a film, shot by him in his youth, that changed the dreams and hopes of a small Spanish village forever. Will Toby be able to straighten up and regain his human appearance? Will Don Quixote be able to avoid madness and imminent death? Or will love overcome everything?
There will also be a creative meeting with film director Terry Gilliam as part of the 12th OIFF.
Terry Gilliam was born in 1940 in Minnesota (USA). Initially, he worked as an animator and cartoonist. In 1967 he moved to Britain, where he joined the comedy group Monty Python. After the gradual disintegration of the team in the early 1980s, he began his own career as a screenwriter and director. Since then, he has made 12 feature films, which have won awards at a number of international film festivals.
