Chinese composer and conductor Tan Dun, who won the Oscar for the original score of the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", will present the European premiere of "Double Concerto for Violin, Piano and Orchestra" which will take place at the Odessa Regional Philharmonic on June 11, at 19:00.

The "Double Concerto for Violin, Piano and Orchestra" was commissioned by the ODESSA CLASSICS Festival and the San Francisco New Century Orchestra.

The world-renowned artist Tan Dun, has made an indelible mark on the world’s music scene with a creative repertoire that spans the boundaries of classical music, multimedia performance, and Eastern and Western traditions. His works often incorporate audiovisual elements; use instruments constructed from organic materials, such as paper, water, and stone; and are often inspired by traditional Chinese theatrical and ritual performance. In 2013, he was named a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.

The language of music is universal and can connect all kinds of people from diverse cultures, languages, and with different dream.

A winner of today’s most prestigious honours including the Grammy Award, Oscar/Academy Award, Grawemeyer Award, Bach Prize, Shostakovich Award, and most recently Italy’s Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement, Tan Dun’s music has been played throughout the world by leading orchestras, opera houses, international festivals, and on radio and television.

Tan Dun was also commissioned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to write the Logo Music and Award Ceremony Music for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Tan Dun records for Sony Classical, Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Opus Arte, BIS and Naxos. His recordings have garnered many accolades, including a Grammy Award (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and nomination (The First Emperor; Marco Polo; Pipa Concerto), Japan’s Recording Academy Awards for Best Contemporary Music CD (Water Passion after St. Matthew) and the BBC’s Best Orchestral Album (Death and Fire).

My icons are Mahler and Bernstein. I believe conducting is part of my spiritual life. I learned my conducting through composing and learned composing through my conducting. That is why music to me is  such a dramatic journey and colorful dream in action and mind.

If you want to become the first in Europe to hear the new music of this genius, then you should take care of the tickets in advance.
