The harvesting of early cereals, legumes, and oilseed crops in farms across the Odessa region began one to one and a half weeks earlier than the average long-term dates.
This was reported by specialists from the Institute of Climate-Oriented Agriculture, according to a report on agrometeorological conditions and the state of agricultural crops prepared by the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences.
As of July 1, grain and leguminous crops had been harvested on an area of 56,100 hectares, with 252,700 tonnes threshed and an average yield of 4.5 tonnes per hectare.
"The difference in yields between districts is quite significant — ranging from 2.58 tonnes per hectare to 5.26 tonnes per hectare," the specialists noted.
Winter barley has been harvested from 44,600 hectares, with a yield of 4.9 tonnes per hectare, bringing the total harvest to 217,500 tonnes.
Winter wheat has been harvested from around 3,000 hectares, with 12,600 tonnes collected at an average yield of 4.2 tonnes per hectare.
Peas, spring barley, and spring wheat have been harvested from areas of 8,100, 200, and 300 hectares respectively. The harvest volumes amounted to 21,100 tonnes, 440 tonnes, and 1,090 tonnes, with yields of 2.6, 3.7, and 3.7 tonnes per hectare respectively.
Winter rapeseed is currently in the stage of full seed maturity. A total of 555 hectares have already been harvested, producing 1,130 tonnes with an average yield of 2.03 tonnes per hectare. The difference in yields between districts ranges from 0.8 tonnes per hectare to 3.4 tonnes per hectare.
