From March 2022 to November 2023, 6,482 companies initiated the closure process. This year, on average, 479 businesses cease operations per month. This is nearly three times less than the corresponding period in 2021 when 1,290 companies were closing each month, as stated in the new report of OpenDataBot
Only 17% of them went through bankruptcy proceedings, while the rest independently decided to cease their activities. For comparison, in 2021, the percentage of companies ending up in bankruptcy was 5.1%
The highest number of business closures is in Kyiv with 893 cases. In the second position on the list is Lviv region, where 526 companies have closed, and the third is Dnipropetrovsk region with 479 businesses.
Most frequently, non-profit organizations are closing – 1068 companies. In the second position are wholesale trade enterprises, with 826 companies closing, and closing the anti-rating are companies in the agricultural sector with 492 cases.
The most prominent bankruptcy of the year is the closure process of the Ukrainian airline "MAU (Ukraine International Airlines)", associated with Ihor Kolomoysky. However, it is not the largest business that has ceased operations since the beginning of the full-scale process. In the top three companies in the closure process by turnover, Mariupol Metallurgical Plant named after Ilyich, Azovstal, and one of the companies in the WOG network have entered.
