On the night of December 26, a powerful explosion occurred in Russia at a military airfield in Engels. This suggests that the Russian Federation is not able to respond to serious challenges to its security.

Military expert Petro Chernyk expressed this opinion on the air of Apostrophe TV.

He stressed that the Russian military-industrial complex has finally embarked on the path of its decline.

"And the fact that their echeloned defense cannot cope with an unknown aircraft indicates that they do not have the sufficient technical potential for this. This is a very serious signal to those countries that bought various weapons from Russia, including anti-aircraft systems like the S-300 or S-400 Triumph. That is, in general, Russia is not able to respond to serious challenges to its security," Petro Chernyk explained.

According to the expert, Russia still has more than 60 Tu-95 MS strategic bombers, about the same number of Tu-22 M3, and up to a dozen Tu-160 "White Swan" in service. In order for a turning point to occur regarding the destruction of Russian strategic aviation, these aircraft need to be destroyed in dozens, but it is important to destroy several copies.

"The fact is that all these aircraft, except for single copies of the Tu-160, Russia is no longer able to produce, and the youngest Tu-95 TS is already 30 years old. Damaged sides are unlikely to be repaired; most likely, they will be made "donors" for other machines. As a result, this potential will be depleted," said Petro Chernyk.

He added that the Dyagilevo and Engels airfields were built specifically for strategic bombers, and their movement to a deeper rear entailed many problems for the Russians. Previously, these airfields were considered deep rear areas, but now they are definitely not.
