On the night of Monday, July 6, Polish military forces scrambled fighter jets and placed air defence systems on high alert in response to a massive Russian missile strike on Ukrainian territory.
This was reported on social media platform X by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
According to the statement, in line with standard procedures, the Operational Command deployed available forces and resources. Fighter jets were scrambled, while ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems were brought to full readiness.
After the end of the Russian air attack, Polish military aviation ended its operation, and air defence and radar units returned to normal duty status.
The Polish military command stressed that no violations of Polish airspace were recorded.
Warsaw also thanked NATO allies for their support. In particular, French Aerospace Forces aircraft helped secure Polish airspace, while the Netherlands provided support with air defence systems.
The Polish command emphasized that these measures were preventive in nature and primarily aimed at protecting areas bordering zones of heightened threat.
