Poland caught a Russian spy who was interfering with Poland's vital infrastructure and security services in the Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeships in northern Poland.

The Polish military counterintelligence service has identified another person who worked for foreign intelligence services, the Polish press agency PAP reports.

Arrested on Tuesday, the man was taken into custody for three months according to a court decision. According to the Polish military counterintelligence, the man collected information about the vital infrastructure and the work of the security services in the Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian voivodeships in northern Poland. The Pomeranian Voivodeship also includes the port city of Gdansk. The Polish authorities said this person handed over the collected information to the Russian special services.

Caught at the crime scene, the man confessed to his deed and explained in detail to the Polish prosecutor's office his actions and recruitment by Russian intelligence. The man has been spying for Russia since at least January 2023. On March 1, another suspect was detained in Poland, allegedly working for the Belarusian special services.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Polish authorities have already detained 20 people suspected of collaborating with Russian or Belarusian special services.

In mid-March, Warsaw also announced the elimination of the Russian spy network.
