On the morning of October 6th, Russian terrorists struck the center of Kharkiv. A filming crew from the Portuguese channel RTP was caught in the enemy shelling. The journalists were unharmed, but their vehicle was destroyed. This was reported by the head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU), Sergey Tomilenko.
"It hit near the window frame, but I'm fine. We're all fine, but I thought it was all over..." said Ukrainian producer of the Portuguese filming crew, Andrey Kovalenko, who was caught in the Russian attack.
It is noted that the foreign journalists were on an assignment and had plans to travel to the Donetsk region. Additionally, they had intended to visit the village of Groza today, where a Russian rocket claimed the lives of at least 52 local residents.
"The rocket came almost to the hotel," Kovalenko said.
"The hotel is very popular among journalists and representatives of various international organizations who come to Kharkiv for business trips. NUJU points out that the shelling of hotels and dining establishments used by journalists on assignments with Russian rockets is a deliberate tactic employed by occupiers aimed at intimidating journalists and members of the civil sector," the statement reads.
