President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Her Royal Highness Princess Anne of the United Kingdom, who is visiting Ukraine for the first time since the country regained independence. Princess Anne previously visited Kyiv in 1973 and 1990.
The meeting took place at the National Sanctuary “St. Sophia Cathedral” in Kyiv. The President thanked Her Royal Highness for her special attention and support for Ukraine and its people. Nearly 250,000 Ukrainians in the United Kingdom were forced to leave their homes due to Russian aggression, and the royal family continues to focus on providing assistance to them.
President Zelensky also expressed gratitude to Princess Anne for visiting and engaging with Ukrainian veterans, noting the importance of her attention to their needs.
One of the key topics of the meeting was the return of Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia. The President highlighted the United Kingdom’s active participation in the work of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children and emphasized that Ukraine counts on continued support for all its initiatives.
Princess Anne shared about her meetings with children who had been successfully returned home. President Zelensky stressed that every child matters and that every effort must be made for their reintegration. He also invited Her Royal Highness to participate in the next summit of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
Additionally, the meeting covered the rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers, including the use of animals, as well as methods for restoring physical and mental health. They also discussed implementing accessibility practices for full societal reintegration. Princess Anne shared her impressions from visiting one such rehabilitation center in Bucha.
