The issue of global food security was discussed by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Kenya’s President William Ruto. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the UN Conference on Financing for Development, held in Spain.
“Despite the war, Ukraine remains a guarantor of global food stability. Russia is stealing Ukrainian grain and deliberately attacking our ports and grain storage facilities. This poses a direct threat not only to African countries but to the entire world,” said the Head of the Ukrainian Government.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed practical steps to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and Kenya. They focused on preparing an agreement on economic and trade cooperation, as well as developing agricultural processing and creating logistics and agrarian hubs.
A separate topic discussed by Denys Shmyhal and William Ruto was education, specifically initiatives to establish exchanges between higher education institutions.
“Ukraine is open to cooperation in digitalization, the IT sector, and the space industry,” Shmyhal also emphasized.
He thanked Kenya for its consistent support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its commitment to the principles of the UN Charter.
