German defense company Quantum Systems has signed a multimillion-euro contract to supply Ukraine with 10 autonomous Daimler Truck Zetros trucks and 10 MANDRILL unmanned ground platforms for testing under frontline conditions.
According to the company’s press release:
"Following the signing of a €multi-million contract in Kyiv, Quantum Systems will deliver autonomous ground systems as part of a Ukrainian research and development program. The program includes 10 autonomous Zetros AI trucks equipped with the Quantum Systems Ground Autonomy Kit and 10 MANDRILL unmanned ground vehicles".
The company noted that the vehicles will be deployed by the National Guard of Ukraine under real operational conditions. The experience gained will be used for further development of the systems.
The contract includes the delivery of ten Daimler Truck Zetros vehicles equipped with Quantum Systems’ MOSAIC Ground Autonomy Kit, as well as ten MANDRILL unmanned ground vehicles.
Daimler Truck is an official partner of the program and is working with Quantum Systems to integrate the vehicles’ hardware and autonomous software into the Zetros platform.
According to Quantum Systems, the MOSAIC Ground Autonomy Kit enables unmanned and remotely operated missions with support vehicles. The system supports autonomous delivery, convoy operations, and multi-domain missions by connecting ground vehicles with other unmanned systems into a single interoperable operational network.
“We are looking forward to validating Unmanned Zetros trucks and MANDRILL UGVs under frontline conditions in Ukraine.” said Hendrik Kramer, Vice President Ground Domain at Quantum Systems. “Quantum Systems has a proven track record of integrating frontline feedback into its systems. With this contract, we can now test and validate two of our newest products, mere months after their launch under real-world conditions in Ukraine, which has a significant demand for modernizing military logistics.”
The MANDRILL is a modular, high-mobility unmanned ground vehicle engineered for demanding defence and disaster response missions. With a payload capacity of up to 750 kg, a top speed of 100 km/h, and an electric range of up to 200 km, the platform combines endurance with mission flexibility. Its open architecture allows rapid integration of mission-specific payloads, including EO/IR sensor systems, logistics cargo cages, stretchers, drone launch and recovery systems, electronic warfare equipment, and other specialized modules. Fully integrated into the MOSAIC UXS software platform, MANDRILL supports coordinated operations with aerial and ground assets while offering autonomous day-and-night operation, remote control, and AI-enabled navigation in GNSS-denied environments.
