Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said that Russia is demanding that the American side issue a visa to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov so that he can participate in the UN General Assembly in New York.
This is reported by the Russian "Interfax".
"We can confidently say that we would like to see Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov at the UN General Assembly. In recent years, the United States has more than once created difficulties for us with business trips, including on the UN line. The embassy has already applied to the White House, and the State Department demands to fulfill the country's obligation on whose territory the UN headquarters is based, and immediately issue visas to the minister and all members of the Russian delegation," he said.
"We will continue to insist on ensuring the unhindered entry of all Russian representatives participating in the events of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly," Antonov added.
