Russia has carried out a massive strike on a thermal power generation facility in the Kyiv region, the Ministry of Energy reported.

According to the statement, one of the key thermal power plants came under intense shelling. The attack’s objective is clear — to cause maximum disruption to Ukraine’s civilian population by depriving homes, hospitals, schools, and kindergartens of electricity and heat.

“Power generation facilities, transmission and distribution systems, and gas infrastructure are not military targets. The enemy is fully aware that it is striking critical civilian infrastructure,” the ministry emphasized.

Rescue teams and energy specialists are currently working at the site to eliminate the consequences of the attack and stabilize the situation as quickly as possible. Authorities urge citizens to follow only official updates regarding potential changes in power supply.

Earlier, several local Telegram channels reported that the Trypillia Thermal Power Plant had been targeted, leading to power outages in nearby settlements and parts of Kyiv. Prior to the strike, the Air Force had warned about multiple groups of drones detected over the region around 00:25, and air defense systems were activated to counter the threat.
