During the night of August 30 (starting at 19:00 on August 29), the Russian forces carried out a massive strike on Ukrainian territory using attack drones and missiles launched from air, land, and sea.
In total, air force radar units detected and tracked 582 aerial threats during the attack:
- 537 Shahed-type attack drones and various decoy UAVs launched from Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia);
- 8 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles launched from Russia’s Rostov and Krasnodar regions;
- 37 cruise and air-launched missiles (Kh-101, Kalibr, Iskander-K, Kh-59) launched from Russia’s Saratov region, the Black Sea, and the occupied Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukraine’s defense forces — including aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare divisions, UAV systems, and mobile fire teams — worked to repel the attack.
According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, Ukrainian air defense destroyed or neutralized 548 aerial targets:
- 510 Shahed-type drones and various UAV decoys;
- 6 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 32 cruise and air-launched missiles (Kh-101, Kalibr, Iskander-K, Kh-59).
Despite these efforts, five missiles and 24 attack drones hit seven locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell on 21 locations.
