Throughout August, Russian forces continued attempts to pressure Ukrainian defenses across multiple frontline directions, sacrificing large numbers of infantry in the process.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the irrecoverable and sanitary losses of Russian personnel over 31 days reached 28,790 soldiers — roughly equivalent to the size of more than two full divisions.

Ukrainian defenders also conducted active counter-battery operations, successfully striking or destroying 1,304 artillery systems. This figure corresponds to nearly 73 artillery divisions eliminated in a single month.

The logistical backbone of the Russian army suffered significantly as well. In August alone, Ukrainian forces disabled or destroyed 3,505 units of Russian military vehicles and fuel tankers, severely disrupting supply chains.

Despite Russia’s decreasing reliance on heavy armored vehicles due to their high vulnerability on the battlefield, Ukrainian troops continued to target Russian armor effectively. Over the past month, Russian forces lost 87 tanks and 161 armored fighting vehicles.

These statistics highlight the intensifying attrition faced by the Russian military and underscore the continued effectiveness of Ukraine’s defense operations
