The situation in the south remains difficult due to active assault operations by Russian forces, which are attempting to take control of Huliaipole and Stepnohirsk, according to Southern Defense Forces spokesman Vladyslav Voloshyn.
In Huliaipole itself, fighting continues on the eastern and northeastern outskirts of the city, where the Russian forces are trying to advance with assault groups.
“The enemy is attempting to enter the city, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces are destroying, blocking, and stopping their advance. The high number of clashes indicates that the enemy continues to storm our positions despite losses,” Voloshyn said.
He added that Russian forces are actively using infiltration tactics, attempting to penetrate deep into populated areas and establish positions within urban buildings.
“There are currently small pockets where the enemy is trying to secure individual buildings, but our units are conducting reconnaissance and assault operations, destroying the enemy and pushing them from positions. They are not able to establish a foothold in the urban area at this time,” the spokesman emphasized.
He noted that a similar situation is occurring near Stepnohirsk.
“Near Stepnohirsk, the enemy is also trying to enter the settlement, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces are blocking them at the approaches,” he explained.
