According to Yagun, the enemy may try to kill the remaining defenders of Ukraine evacuated from Azovstal.

After the attack on the colony in the occupied Yelenovka, Russian terrorists will probably try to kill the rest of the defenders of Mariupol, evacuated from the Azovstal plant.

This opinion was expressed by Radio NV Major General of the SBU reserve Viktor Yagun.

“There are no guarantees [that this will not happen]. I think it was a touchstone … The guarantees that [the prisoners from Azovstal] would be exchanged in the near future and that nothing would happen to them were the Red Cross and the UN. We again see how the Russian Federation levels all international organizations and puts their word into nothing," the general says.

According to him, the enemy wants to test the world's reaction by mass killing of captured Ukrainians.

"If this is ignored, people will actually disappear," he predicts.

Yagun advises Ukrainians to refrain from aggression because, according to him, Russia expects from us "inadequate reactions, some kind of video on the Internet about how we mock."

"They want to present us the same as they are. I understand that we have anger and desire to take revenge on the enemies, but I think that now we need to approach more reasonably and pause, because we can mess things up," he added.

On the night of July 29, an explosion was heard on the territory of the former penal colony in the town of Yelenovka. The building was destroyed, which contained Ukrainian prisoners of war, withdrawn from the Azovstal plant.

Immediately after the explosion, Russia accused the Armed Forces of Ukraine of shelling the penal colony. In Ukraine, they said that the explosion in Yelenovka was a Russian terrorist act in order to cover up war crimes and discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to intelligence, the attack was carried out by mercenaries from the Wagner PMC.

On July 30, the UN announced its readiness to provide experts to investigate the shelling of the colony.
