During a special operation in Kyiv, the Security Service neutralized an organized criminal group operating under the guise of a volunteer group.
It was established that the gang consisted of 5 people of different nationalities. Their activities from the territory of Russia were directed by a native of Dagestan, controlled by representatives of the Russian secret services.
To disguise the criminal activity, the gang members joined the ranks of the volunteer battalion of one of the capital districts. Using the documents of fictitious persons, they received automatic weapons from the unit, which they later hid behind their places of residence.
The arsenal of ammunition was confiscated from the attackers. Among them are 29 Kalashnikov assault rifles, 1.2 kg of explosives, and grenades.
According to the investigation, the attackers planned to use the stolen machines to destabilize the situation in the region.
During the investigation with the involvement of soldiers of the special unit of the Central Security Service "A" of the SBU at the places of residence, visit, and temporary stay of members of the group, law enforcement officers also found:
- grenade launcher,
- PKK machine gun,
- 2 combat guns TT and Glock-17,
- more than a thousand rounds of ammunition of various calibers.
The seized lesions were sent for examination.
One of the active members of the gang has been reportedly suspected. The issue of prosecuting other participants and persons involved in it is being resolved.
A pre-trial investigation is underway. Measures to expose and detain criminals were carried out by SBU officers under the procedural guidance of the Desnianskyi District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv.
