Former Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhiy Kyslytsya, has been appointed to a new position as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
This was reported by the government portal.
The corresponding decree was issued by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on February 12, 2025.
"Appoint Serhiy Oleh Kyslytsya as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine," the document states.
Notably, Kyslytsya served as Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations for five years. He was appointed on December 19, 2019, and dismissed during diplomatic sector rotations carried out by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in late December 2024.
Kyslytsya gained recognition online for his sharp statements against Russian representatives at the UN.
Background
Serhiy Kyslytsya was born in Kyiv in 1969. He graduated from the Institute of International Relations at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, specializing in International Law. He speaks three foreign languages: English, Spanish, and French.
Kyslytsya began his diplomatic career in 1992 and has held positions in embassies worldwide, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ukrainian missions to international organizations.
