Several hundred Russian servicemen and several dozen pieces of equipment of the Russian Armed Forces have arrived in Belarus for military training.

This was reported on live TV by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

“This involves several hundred Russian servicemen and several dozen units of equipment that have already arrived on Belarusian territory. At the same time, Belarus has sent some of its own units and forces to Russia, where training grounds have also been prepared for these exercises,” Demchenko said.

According to him, Ukrainian intelligence is closely monitoring the movement and concentration of Russian forces in Belarus.

“Reconnaissance units of the Ministry of Defense and the State Border Guard Service constantly track the possible further arrival of Russian units to Belarus to understand how many they might deploy for joint exercises. This direction remains threatening to us because during these exercises, provocations or escalations of security tensions against our country cannot be ruled out,” Demchenko noted.

However, at present, he considers the threat to Ukraine from Belarusian territory insignificant.

“Considering the forces currently present, this is not a significant threat that could come from Belarusian territory. Moreover, we have not observed the formation or buildup of any strike force in Belarus near our border,” the State Border Guard Service spokesperson added.
