In April, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine codified and approved for use more than a dozen types of ammunition produced domestically. This was reported by the Main Directorate for the Support and Lifecycle Management of Armament and Military Equipment.

Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Defence has approved over 60 types of ammunition for various purposes. The largest group consists of ammunition for unmanned systems. The new additions also include artillery and mortar shells, engineering ammunition, as well as small arms ammunition of various calibers: both Soviet and NATO standards.

Domestic manufacturers have also developed practical grenade launcher ammunition for under-barrel or automatic grenade launchers with a 40mm calibre. Two types of grenade launcher ammunition have been introduced: inert and marker grenades. The 40mm marker grenade is filled with a coloured dye, while the inert one lacks an explosive charge. These practical grenade launcher rounds are used for training personnel and preparing weapons for active combat.

"It is important that domestic weapons manufacturers are mastering the production of new types of ammunition for various purposes. Our goal is to quickly scale the production of a wide range of armament and equipment. Maximum self-sufficiency in the production of armaments and military technology increases our capacity to meet the needs of the military," said Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defence, Valeriy Churkin.
