Ukrainian airline SkyUp has resumed regular flights for the first time since 2022, according to its press service. On April 18, the first flights departed from Chișinău, where the company is based while the airspace is closed, to Paris and Lisbon.

"Today, the launch of regular flights from Chișinău is not just a new stage in the company's operations. It is proof that Ukrainian professionals and the company are capable of remaining part of the global aviation industry despite everything," quoted the company's CEO, Dmytro Seroukhov.

SkyUp's flight program includes regular flights from Chișinău to 13 cities across Europe: Paris, Lisbon, Nice, Barcelona, Alicante, Palma de Mallorca, Larnaca, Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Berlin, Prague, and Stockholm.

SkyUp chose Chișinău as its base because it is located close to Ukraine, making it a logistically convenient and reliable solution for organizing international routes.

  • After the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, SkyUp began developing a new line of business — operating flights for other airlines under wet leasing agreements. Specifically, SkyUp aircraft were used on Wizz Air flights.
  • In May 2023, SkyUp launched a company in the European Union, with its subsidiary SkyUp MT registered in Malta.
