Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Olexander Syrskyi visited the brigades holding the defense on the Zaporizhzhia front, he announced on March 14.
He stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are controlling the operational situation in this area, and the Russian army continues to attack Ukrainian positions near Robotyne and Verbove, but "without particular success."
According to Syrskyi's observations, combat actions are characterized by the widespread use of drones of all types together with artillery and mortar fire.
"In such circumstances, strike drones gradually become the main striking weapon of ground units in general-purpose combat," the chief commander wrote.
In such conditions, he believes, reliable protection of Ukrainian troops can only be ensured by modern and powerful electronic warfare (EW) means:
"The confrontation between drones and EW has come to the forefront, and only those who can achieve an advantage over the enemy in this competition will have a chance of victory."
The chief commander added that despite the "quite complex" situation along the entire front line, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to launch the process of rotations and replacements of units and subunits that have been performing combat tasks at the forefront for a long time. He expressed the opinion that this will stabilize the situation and have a positive impact on the morale and psychological state of Ukrainian soldiers.
"I have made all the necessary decisions to enhance the combat capabilities of our brigades," he noted.
The day before, Syrskyi stated that Russian forces had concentrated their main efforts in the areas of the settlements of Terny, Ivanivske, Berdychi, Tonenke, Verbove, and Robotyne.
