The Security Service and the National Police arrested an FSB agent "on the hot trail" who prepared a terrorist attack in the center of Odessa on February 20 of this year.
At that time, the agent blew up the car of the prosecutor of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Defense Sector of the Southern Region. As a result of the explosion, a passerby was injured.
On the evening of the same day, law enforcement officers arrested the perpetrator of the attack. It turned out to be an 18-year-old resident of Odessa, who had been recruited by the occupiers through a Telegram channel seeking "easy" money.
Following the instructions of the Russian special services, the young man personally made an improvised explosive device (IED) in a rented apartment, with a power of 300 grams of TNT equivalent.
To increase the blast effect, he additionally filled the explosive with metal nuts and placed it under the military prosecutor's car.
In addition, he set up a hidden mobile phone with remote access for the FSB opposite the "target."
Subsequently, the Russian special services remotely activated the explosive device.
During searches, the authorities seized a mobile phone from the detainee containing evidence of his communication with the occupiers.
He has now been informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act).
The court is considering the question of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail. The criminal faces up to 12 years in prison with asset confiscation.
