The company BAKERY FOOD INVESTMENT has officially launched the first factory in Ukraine producing items made from sweet dough, phyllo dough, croissants, donuts, and ice. It is located in the city of Khust, Zakarpattia region. In May 2025, the enterprise opened the first of five production lines for sweet dough; currently, the ice production line is already operational. According to the owner of BFI, Oleg Mishchenko, investments in the project exceeded 400 million UAH.

“We understand the risks involved in establishing a new enterprise right now. However, we also understand our role in supporting the country, providing jobs, and building the foundation for a stable and reliable partner for the state. We once again show that Ukrainians are unbreakable and capable of maintaining a course for the country’s development and the creation of unique products even during wartime,” said Oleg Mishchenko.

The planned production capacity outlined in the strategy for 2027 is up to 3,000 tons of products per month across all production lines: the first line for quick-freezing sweet dough, the second for ice production, the third for phyllo dough products, the fourth for croissants, and the fifth for donuts.

At the same time, production is aimed not only at meeting domestic demand but also at export. The company plans to export up to 30% of its bakery products. The factory is fully automated, digitized, and built with minimal external risks in mind.

“This is a factory of the future. We are building not just an enterprise but creating an industrial-social cluster and taking production to a new level. Let me remind you, this is the first factory in Ukraine producing frozen sweet dough, and the enterprise’s capacity is also focused on import substitution of products that Ukraine previously did not manufacture,” said BFI CEO Yevheniy Mishchenko.

He also added that in Khust the company is simultaneously implementing a project focused on the community and the enterprise’s employees: around the production site, a public space will be created including a café, bakery, pizzeria, electric charging station, skating rink, and family recreation area.

The construction of the factory in Khust is part of the company’s updated global development strategy. Within this strategy, BAKERY FOOD INVESTMENT also invested 160 million UAH in modernizing the factory in Kozelets (Chernihiv region), which increased its capacity by 25%.

Currently, the Ukrainian manufacturer employs over 600 people. A key role in the project is played by Sense Bank, which became a financial partner under the government programme “Affordable Loans 5-7-9%” and the “Energy Source” initiative.

BAKERY FOOD INVESTMENT is one of Ukraine’s leading producers of frozen bakery products.

It manufactures a wide range of products, including mini buns, hot dogs, and cinnamon rolls, which are widely available in Ukrainian markets and exported to 15 countries, including the USA, Georgia, Turkey, and European countries.

BFI uses shock freezing technology that allows the products to be stored at -18°C for up to a year without quality loss. The company has also stopped using trans fats, making its products suitable for children.
