On Friday, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted the draft decision of the Ukraine-EU Association Committee in the trade composition, which creates conditions for Ukraine to join the EU internal market regime in the field of roaming, i.e. "roaming visa-free".
The press service of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reported this.
The adopted document provides lists and schedules for the adaptation of EU legislation in the telecommunications services sector, particularly regarding roaming in public mobile communication networks.
"The approval of the decision of the Ukraine-EU Association Committee in the trade composition will create the conditions for Ukraine to acquire a regime of the internal roaming market. This year, this area will be a "pilot" for the full legal integration of Ukraine into intra-European regulation," said the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Yuliya Svyridenko of the Economy of Ukraine.
The document's approval is part of the plan to strengthen the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union, the key goal of which is the integration of Ukraine into the EU internal market.
"I repeat, our goal is to integrate into the internal market of the EU, without waiting for accession to the EU," Svyridenko said.
As of today, telecommunications operators of the EU and Ukraine offer affordable or free calls between the EU and Ukraine voluntarily in connection with the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and the departure of a significant number of Ukrainians to European countries.
At the beginning of the year, these voluntary measures were extended for six months, and the new arrangement now also covers calls to landline numbers in Ukraine and new types of operators.
