According to IMF forecasts, Ukraine’s total public debt will rise to 110% of GDP this year

This was stated in the "Fiscal Monitor" report presented in Washington on Wednesday by the Director of the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department, Vitor Gaspar.

According to the Fund’s estimates, Ukraine’s total public debt in 2024, after two years of Russia’s full-scale war, stood at 89.8% of GDP. This year, the figure is expected to exceed the psychological threshold of 100% for the first time, reaching 110%.

For comparison, in 2021, before Russia's full-scale invasion, this indicator did not exceed 48.9%.

At the same time, the IMF projects that Ukraine’s total public debt will decrease next year to 108.5%, with a continuing downward trend.
