On January 1, 2024, a new stage of implementing the "Land Market" law begins – the market opens for legal entities. Additionally, citizens will have the right to own up to 10,000 hectares of land.

The land market was launched on July 1, 2021. Until 2024, agricultural land could only be purchased by individuals – Ukrainian citizens with a limit of 100 hectares.
The law also prohibits foreigners from buying land: according to the law, foreigners can acquire Ukrainian land only after the adoption of the corresponding decision in a nationwide referendum. When this referendum will take place is unknown.
