On Wednesday, December 6, in the Moscow region, the body of former Ukrainian MP Ilya Kiva was found. Russian investigators have reported the opening of a criminal case regarding the murder of Ilya Kiva.

According to preliminary information, in the evening, in the park area of one of the cottage settlements in the village of Suponevo, Odintsovo municipal district, an unknown person fired shots from an unidentified weapon. Ilya Kiva died on the spot from the injuries sustained.

"A group of highly experienced investigators and forensic experts has joined the investigation of the criminal case. Currently, an examination of the scene is being conducted, measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the event and individuals involved in the murder. Operational services have been tasked, and various versions of the event are being worked out," write the Russians.

The discovery of Ilya Kiva's body was reported by the Russian propaganda outlet "RIA Novosti."

"The body, presumably that of former Verkhovna Rada deputy Kiva, was found in the Moscow suburb of Suponevo, Odintsovo district," the statement from the Russians reads.

According to information from "Suspilne," "Ukrayinska Pravda," and "RBC-Ukraine," Ilya Kiva was eliminated by gunfire, as part of a special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine. The Main Intelligence Directorate confirms the liquidation of the collaborator.

What is known about Kiva:

He was a People's Deputy of Ukraine of the IX convocation from the banned political party Opposition Platform - For Life (2019-2022). Former member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement and an ex-associate of Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov.

The politician left Ukraine before the start of the full-scale invasion, initially going to Spain and later to Russia. On March 6, 2022, the then Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova charged Kiva with state treason, and on March 10, the court sent the MP into custody in the case of state treason. On March 15, he was stripped of his deputy mandate.

In April 2023, Kiva requested political asylum from Russian President Putin, and in August, he was informally charged with incitement to overthrow the constitutional order.

On November 13, the Lviv Lychakivsky Court issued a guilty verdict in the case against former People's Deputy of Ukraine Ilya Kiva.
