On December 4, 2025, at the Kacha military airfield in Crimea, specialists from the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate unit “Phantoms” struck a Russian multirole MiG-29 fighter.
On the same night, the “Phantoms” also targeted the Irtysh airfield radar system near occupied Simferopol.
Main Intelligence Directorate special units continue to systematically weaken the air defense system of the Russian forces over the temporarily occupied peninsula, destroying radars, anti-aircraft systems, and now—including fighter aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces.
This summer, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out an operation against the Russian airbase at Saki in Crimea. According to the SSU, drones from the Special Operations Center “A” struck several aircraft: one Su-30SM was completely destroyed, another was damaged, and three Su-24s were hit. In addition, the strike targeted an aviation weapons depot on the airfield. The SSU estimates the value of a single Su-30SM at between $35 and $50 million.
