To the State Budget of Ukraine, $118 million has been received on a non-repayable basis from the Government of Japan as part of the World Bank projects 'Strengthening the Health Care System and Saving Lives' (HEAL Ukraine) and 'Housing Repair for the Restoration of Rights and Opportunities of People' (HOPE).

"During times of full-scale war when the social sphere suffers the most, the implementation and mobilization of resources for initiatives to support the population are necessary. The funds attracted under the HEAL and HOPE projects will help the government provide proper assistance to its citizens, including expanding the range of medical services and access to them, as well as overcoming the consequences of the armed aggression of Russia and rebuilding Ukraine's housing infrastructure," said Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.

The grant funding from the Government of Japan includes:

• $70 million under the World Bank project HEAL Ukraine aimed at supporting the state budget by reimbursing the expenses incurred under the medical guarantees program.

• $48.2 million under the World Bank project 'Housing Repair for the Restoration of Rights and Opportunities of People' (HOPE). The funds under the project are directed towards reimbursing the state budget expenditures used for compensatory payments to homeowners for repairs in multi-apartment and private buildings requiring minor and medium repairs.

"From the first days of the full-scale war, the Government of Japan has been providing necessary financial assistance to Ukraine, including through the structures and funds of the World Bank. Japan's financial assistance is aimed at supporting the state budget, financing the social sphere, and recovery. I am convinced that Japan's experience in implementing recovery projects, as well as the flexibility and adaptability of the World Bank to extraordinary conditions, will help quickly initiate and implement socially significant projects to assist Ukraine," added Deputy Finance Minister Olha Zykova.
