Today, on August 22, the seventh tranche of 1.5 billion euros has been received into the state budget within the framework of the extensive European Union Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) programme.

In total, Ukraine has received 12 billion euros of concessional credit financing in 2023 as part of the MFA programme, out of the programme's total allocation of 18 billion euros.

The credit repayment term is 35 years, with the EU covering the interest and other servicing payments on behalf of Ukraine.

As in previous periods, the MFA is directed towards funding priority expenditures of the state budget, including social and humanitarian needs.

"The European Union is one of the largest financial assistance donors to Ukraine. Since the start of the full-scale conflict with Russia, the total amount of direct budget support provided under the MFA programmes has reached 19.2 billion euros. We are grateful to the EU institutions and member states for understanding our urgent financial needs and providing timely assistance, which is an important factor for the stable progression of the current budget year," stated Ukraine's Minister of Finance, Sergiy Marchenko.

The upcoming tranches under the extensive MFA programme are expected by the end of 2023, contingent on Ukraine fulfilling the agreed conditions of structural policies.
