The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador in The Hague to deliver a strong protest over a large-scale series of coordinated cyberattacks aimed at disrupting the country’s military logistics and transport infrastructure, according to NOS.

The Dutch government accused Russian state security services, in particular hacker groups linked to the 16th Center of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), of deliberately attempting to disrupt military supply chains passing through the Netherlands in support of NATO allies and Ukraine.

According to representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, malicious activity was detected in the digital networks of key port terminals, transport companies, and government agencies responsible for regulating logistics routes.

The Dutch side emphasized that such actions go far beyond traditional espionage, constituting direct acts of sabotage against critical infrastructure in European countries.

The Dutch démarche is part of a broader and coordinated response by Western countries to Russia’s hostile activities in cyberspace. The Netherlands said it is working closely with European and transatlantic partners to implement new technical measures to protect military logistics, as well as to develop targeted personal and sectoral sanctions against Russian individuals and entities involved in the cyberattacks.

"We are seeing cyber threats and hybrid threats from Russia on a larger scale," Berendsen said.

There is likely a coordinated response, as Germany, France, and Finland also announced today that they had summoned their Russian ambassadors over espionage and sabotage activities.
