The newly elected President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, emphasized that he currently sees no point in meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

ERR reported.

"It is quite obvious that it is difficult to engage in any political dialogue with Putin while Russia is waging aggressive war against Ukraine. Therefore, I do not see any connection with him or with the Russian political leadership in the near future," Stubb said.

In addition, the new president highlighted three main factors ensuring the security of Finland. According to him, firstly, it is a strong defense within the framework of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

"Our defense spending this year amounts to 2.3% of GDP. Secondly, our membership in NATO and the EU. And thirdly, our agreement on defense cooperation with the United States. The United States is our very close ally. And I anticipate and believe that the alliance will endure," the politician noted.
