During the night of July 6 (starting at 6:00 p.m. on July 5), Russian forces launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine using attack UAVs as well as air-, ground-, and sea-launched missiles of various types.
The main target of the attack was Kyiv.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force's Radio Technical Troops, a total of 419 aerial attack weapons were detected, including 68 missiles and 351 UAVs of various types:
- 6 3M22 Zircon/Oniks anti-ship missiles (launched from Russia's Kursk Region);
- 23 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles (launched from Russia's Bryansk, Oryol, and Kursk regions);
- 33 Kh-101 cruise missiles (launched from Russia's Vologda Region);
- 6 Kalibr cruise missiles (launched from Novorossiysk, Russia);
- 351 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas attack UAVs and Parodiya decoy drones (launched from Shatalovo, Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk Region).
The aerial assault was repelled by fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m., Ukraine's air defenses had destroyed or suppressed 363 aerial targets, including 37 missiles and 326 UAVs of various types:
- 31 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- 6 Kalibr cruise missiles;
- 326 Russian UAVs of various types.
According to preliminary information available as of 8:30 a.m., 29 ballistic missiles (including anti-ship missiles) and 18 attack UAVs struck targets at 34 locations. In addition, debris from intercepted UAVs fell at 16 locations.
