Early in the morning on January 8, the Russians carried out a combined missile strike on Ukrainian cities.

The attack involved strategic bombers Tu-95MS, supersonic bombers Tu-22M3, and carriers of hypersonic aeroballistic missiles 'Kinzhal.'

Populated areas in various regions of Ukraine were under fire. The anti-aircraft defense worked to destroy the enemy missiles.

At night, 11 Tu-95MS aircraft took off from the 'Olenya' airfield in the Murmansk region of the Russian Federation. Around 06:17, they launched cruise missiles X-101/X-555 from the Caspian Sea area towards Ukraine.

From the 'Savasleyka' airfield, the takeoff of the first MiG-31K interceptor was recorded at 06:28, carrying a hypersonic aeroballistic missile 'Kinzhal.' The first missile launch was observed at 06:36. In total, the Russians deployed 4 such aircraft throughout the morning.

At 06:58, four supersonic Tu-22M bombers launched cruise missiles X-22/32 from the Kursk and Voronezh regions. Additionally, Russian occupiers likely employed S-300/S-400 surface-to-air missiles from the temporarily occupied Crimea and the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.

The combined missile attack targeted Zaporizhia, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, and Starokostiantyniv, as well as specific populated areas in the mentioned regions.

In Kharkiv region, the Russians carried out at least four strikes, reported the head of the regional military administration, Oleg Synegubov. In Kharkiv, industrial facilities were targeted, leading to a fire. In the city of Zmiiv, Chuhuiv district, a direct hit on a private house was recorded, resulting in casualties.

The Russians attacked Zaporizhia, and there are casualties. It was a combined attack with cruise and ballistic missiles from different directions. In the regional center, a total of 5 explosions occurred, wrote the head of the regional military administration, Yuriy Malashko. There are reports of missile hits in residential areas—both in open spaces and near buildings.

Russian forces also shelled Krivyi Rih with missiles, reported the head of the City Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul. A shopping center and over two dozen private houses were damaged. Novomoskovsk also came under missile attack, with about 20 casualties reported, including children.

In Khmelnytskyi region, at least 6 explosions were reported. Operational and rescue services are working at the strike locations, according to the regional military administration press service.

A rocket danger alert was declared across all regions of Ukraine at 08:25.
