Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent in Zaporizhzhia. The woman arrived in the city under the "legend" of a volunteer. Still, in reality, she was performing the task of the Russian Federation to identify the location of units of the Armed Forces.
The Russian special services recruited this resident of the temporarily occupied Pologiv district of the Zaporizhia region at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
From her Russian "curator" she received the call sign "007" and instructions on conducting reconnaissance and subversive activities in the region's territory.
To mask her criminal actions, the accomplice of the aggressors presented herself as a local volunteer. In the temporarily occupied territory, she, through her personal connections, collected information on the participants of the partisan movement in the south for their further identification.
The agent's next hostile task was to establish contacts with Ukrainian defenders to establish the deployment locations and movement of units of the Armed Forces. For this purpose, she left the temporarily occupied territory for Zaporizhzhia.
She planned to transmit the obtained coordinates and data on the number of personnel and equipment of the Defense Forces to the occupiers through a specially created anonymous Telegram channel.
However, SBU employees promptly exposed and neutralized the perpetrator.
So far, the investigators of the Security Service have informed her about the suspicion of treason committed under martial law. The court chose a preventive measure for her in the form of detention.
The investigative measures were carried out by the employees of the SBU of the Zaporizhia Region under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
