The security service conducted a counter-sabotage operation in the front-line areas of the east, during which four enemy agents were neutralized in Bakhmut.
They were recruited by the special services of the Russian Federation to carry out reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine. In particular, the attackers set the coordinates of the city infrastructure objects, and collected information about the deployment and movement of the units of the Armed Forces in the region.
The agents also tried to obtain identification data of Ukrainian defenders, including officers of the Security Service.
The aggressors planned to use this information to carry out a series of missile attacks on Bakhmut and sabotage against the Defense Forces near the eastern front.
Agents used specially created Telegram channels to communicate with Russian "curators". Geolocations of infrastructure facilities and positions of Ukrainian troops were also placed there.
SBU employees located and detained enemy informants. They seized means of communication with evidence of criminal acts, and one of the perpetrators had an AK-74 Kalashnikov assault rifle.
The detainees have been notified of the suspicion, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved.
In addition, another accomplice of the occupiers was exposed in the Donetsk region. He became an engineer of one of the strategically important factories.
According to the investigation, he gave the invaders information about the combat positions of the Defense Forces in the east of Ukraine.
SBU officers in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out measures to expose the perpetrators together with units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Police, the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard, and the Military Law and Order Service.
