The Security Service, together with the Prosecutor's Office, eliminated a corruption scheme in the Territorial Administration of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Transcarpathia region.

The senior detective of the Bureau of Economic Security in the region is involved in the organization of the equipment.

The official established a mechanism for illegally receiving money from local entrepreneurs. For regular "contributions", he promised them not to react to the facts of black market sales of excise goods, in particular electronic cigarettes.

For the "protecting" of illegal business, the official demanded merchants to pay him $2 for each sold electronic cigarette. At the same time, the official tried to spread his influence in the region as much as possible and attract as many sellers as possible to the scheme.

A senior detective involved a deputy of the village council in the Uzhgorod district in criminal activity.

SSU officers detained both suspects after receiving $6,000. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the offense.

Crime detection measures were carried out by SSU employees under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and the assistance of the Department of Internal Security Detectives and the Protection of Employees of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.
