Based on materials from the Security Service, nearly 100 hectares of agricultural land in the Kyiv region, illegally owned by Russian citizens, have been returned to Ukraine’s state ownership.
This was made possible through an inspection of the State Geocadastre registers conducted by the SSU as part of a systematic effort to minimize the Russia's impact on Ukraine's economic independence.
As a result of comprehensive measures, the Security Service identified and confirmed that at least 176 residents of Russia owned these plots.
These lands were inherited by Russians before the full-scale war began.
According to current Ukrainian law, only Ukrainian citizens have the right to own agricultural land; foreigners do not.
Therefore, foreign-owned agricultural land must be confiscated and transferred to the State Geocadastre within a year.
Since the responsible agency had not carried out this procedure, the Security Service, together with the prosecutor’s office, took action to terminate the property rights of Russian citizens over the identified plots.
Currently, according to procedure, the confiscated agricultural lands have been registered with the State Geocadastre management.
