The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another FSB agent in Cherkasy. This individual was gathering intelligence on the permanent deployment points and combat positions of the air defense units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which protect the airspace of the region.

According to SSU counterintelligence, potential targets for the Russian forces included anti-aircraft missile systems, radar stations, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian military. The Russian forces were also interested in the locations and security systems of the National Guard units.

To obtain intelligence, the FSB remotely recruited a 45-year-old unemployed resident of Cherkasy, who was seeking "quick money" through Telegram channels. Following the orders from the Russian agents, the individual traveled around the region, covertly recording the locations of Ukrainian defenders and subtly extracting necessary information during casual conversations with acquaintances.

He transferred the collected data onto Google Maps, later sending it along with relevant photos to his Russian handlers. The intelligence report was intended for use in preparing a new series of missile and drone strikes against the region, aiming to circumvent air defense systems.

SSU counterintelligence uncovered the agent's activities in advance and detained him "in the act" while he was conducting reconnaissance near a military facility. Additional measures were taken to secure the positions of Ukrainian troops.

At the time of his arrest, he was found with a mobile phone containing evidence of communication with the Russian intelligence service.

Investigators from the Security Service have informed the agent of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The perpetrator is currently in custody without the right to bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
