The Security Service has thwarted a new series of missile and bomb strikes on the Kharkiv region. Among the main targets of the aggressor were the air defense systems protecting the regional center and adjacent areas.

As a result of the special operation in Kharkiv, an informant of Russian intelligence who was preparing an air attack on defense facilities was caught in the act. Under the guise of walking his dog, the suspect attempted to identify the locations of radar stations and anti-aircraft missile systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In case of obtaining the corresponding coordinates, he was supposed to pass them on to the Russian forces for the purpose of carrying out a fire strike on Ukrainian military units.

However, the Security Service foiled the aggressor's plans due to timely exposure of the Russian informant. Since the beginning of the informant's reconnaissance activity, every step of his was documented by SSU operatives. Additionally, the security service took comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of the Ukrainian military units defending the Kharkiv region.

At the final stage of the special operation, the suspect was apprehended while attempting to covertly photograph the perimeter of one of the Ukrainian military facilities. A mobile phone with photographs of a potential target for an air strike by the Russian Federation was seized from him.

According to the investigation, the Russia's accomplice turned out to be an employee of a local production company who ideologically supported the Kremlin regime. He repeatedly expressed such views in Russian Telegram channels, thus attracting the attention of Russian intelligence. Further communication with the aggressor took place through an anonymous chat in a messenger. He also covertly extracted the necessary information from his colleagues and acquaintances.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators informed the Russian informant of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement, actions, or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine if their identification is possible on the ground).

Currently, the perpetrator is in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.
