The British premiere of the multimedia opera "Chornobyldorf" has been nominated for the Royal Philharmonic Society Award in the United Kingdom. The premiere took place as part of the UK/Ukraine Cultural Season during the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (hcmf//), where the opera became the opening event of the festival.

The performance had a sold-out run at hcmf// and received high praise from critics, including positive reviews from The Times and The Telegraph. Following the show, the opera was nominated in the "Opera and Music Theatre" category for the Royal Philharmonic Society Award.

"Chornobyldorf" was created by Ukrainian composers Roman Hryhoriv and Illya Razumeyko, who combined folk and classical singing with theater, dance, and unique musical instruments. The media opera tells the story of humanity's descendants who survived numerous disasters and, in a post-society setting, attempt to revive the lost civilization through archaeological performance rituals.

The UK/Ukraine Cultural Season is a bilateral program created by the Ukrainian Institute and the British Council to enhance creative and cultural exchange between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

The Royal Philharmonic Society of Great Britain, founded in 1813, is one of the world's oldest music societies. The Royal Philharmonic Society Award has been given annually since 1989 for outstanding live performances of classical music in the United Kingdom.
