At Ukraine's initiative, the UN Security Council will hold a meeting today, January 13, on Russia's crimes against Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians. The session will be held under the Arria formula.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha shared the news on social media, emphasizing that Ukraine will use every international platform to draw attention to the plight of Ukrainians in Russian captivity, defend their rights, and demand their release.
- On January 6, Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that Russian soldiers had executed Ukrainian military personnel in the Donetsk region, near the settlement of Neskuchne in the Volnovakha district.
- One of the largest executions involved the shooting of 16 Ukrainian soldiers at the Pokrovsk direction. Law enforcement has already identified the Russian unit responsible for the executions.
- According to former Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin, up to 90% of Ukrainian prisoners in Russia suffer from various forms of torture.
