This year, Ukraine exported nearly $350 million worth of dairy products

In October 2025, Ukraine exported 8.96 thousand tons of dairy products, which is 5% higher than the same month last year and 4% more than in September 2025.

This was reported by the Association of Milk Producers, citing preliminary data from the State Statistics Service.

Export revenue from dairy products in October reached $24.67 million (+12% compared to October 2024, -2% compared to September 2025).

“From January to October 2025, Ukraine exported 111.11 thousand tons of dairy products (+9%) worth $347.87 million (+39%),” the experts noted.

The main export categories in October were: butter – 21%; cheese – 27%; milk and cream, condensed – 20%; casein – 9%.

In October 2025, Ukraine reduced the export volumes compared to September 2025 for butter to 714 tons (-22%) and ice cream to 348 tons (-49.6%). At the same time, the largest increases in shipments were for whey – 1.31 thousand tons (+25%) and cheese – 1.41 thousand tons (+16%).

Compared to October 2024, exports of fermented dairy products (+37%) and whey (+62%) increased, while shipments of butter (-11%), ice cream (-16%), and uncondensed milk and cream (-13%) decreased.

Revenue growth compared to September 2025 was highest for uncondensed milk and cream – $1.88 million (+10%), whey – $1.44 million (+27%), cheese – $6.62 million (+21%), and casein – $2.12 million (+13%), while revenue decreased for exported butter (-24%) and ice cream (-46%). Compared to October 2024, the largest revenue increases were for fermented dairy products (+62%) and whey (+109%), while revenue for exported butter (-15%), ice cream (-7%), and condensed milk and cream (-5%) decreased.

Regarding export geography, in January–October 2025 the largest volumes of uncondensed milk and cream (92%), fermented dairy products (84%), butter (29%), and cheese (34%) were shipped to Moldova; condensed milk and cream (19.5%), whey (34%), and casein (49%) – to Poland; and ice cream (29%) – to Germany.

At the same time, in October 2025 Ukraine imported 5.89 thousand tons of dairy products worth $31.87 million. Compared to September 2025, import volumes fell by 7%, but rose 20% compared to October 2024.

From January to October 2025, Ukraine imported 52.61 thousand tons of dairy products (+12%) worth $269.73 million (+21%). The largest share of imports in September 2025 was cheese (64%).

“The foreign trade balance in September was negative and amounted to $7.2 million,” the experts concluded.
