The Ukrainian Institute of the Future expert Andriy Illarionov presented the programme "Trillion dollars for Ukraine"

March 18th, the Ukrainian Institute of the Future (UIF) held a big presentation of the new programme "Trillion Dollars for Ukraine" with the participation of its head and UIF expert Andriy Illarionov.

The main purpose of the presentation was to start a public dialogue on the need for sustainable economic growth, which will be able to provide Ukraine with a GDP of one trillion dollars in two decades.

"This presentation is a call to introduce a number of ideas into the Ukrainian expert community so that they can be discussed, criticized, supplemented, and so on. Our main goal with the Ukrainian Institute of the Future is to start a public discussion and dialogue on how to achieve Ukraine's GDP of one trillion dollars, in what terms and under what conditions," said Mr. Illarionov.

During the event, the expert identified three factors that are the basis of sustainable economic growth:

1. Resistance to external risks and threats (true sovereignty);
2. The rule of law;
3. The size of the state in the economy (the ratio of redistribution of income under the influence of the state through taxes).

In particular, Andriy Illarionov proposed a development strategy for Ukraine, the implementation of which determines the achievement of the specified size of the runway by 2040. Among the leading indicators are ensuring:

1. External Security (NATO membership);
2. Index of the level of corruption to the level of 6.0;
3. Rule of Law Index - 65;
4. Transition to the budget surplus from 2025;
5. Achieving the optimal size of the state (20% of GDP) with a focus on 2040.

UIF Executive Director Vadym Denysenko noted that our think tank continues to be a platform for progressive ideas and professional discussions, which is why this lecture is just the beginning of acquaintance with the large complex programme "Trillion Dollars for Ukraine". According to him, the Ukrainian Institute of the Future will announce the continuation of Andriy Illarionov's lectures. It will continue to provide expert discussions on the ideas voiced to pursue a quality economic policy in Ukraine.
