Kyiv and Brussels have signed a cooperation agreement. Belgium will invest approximately €150 million over four years in Ukraine's recovery.
This was reported by referencing the Twitter account of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the local publication Belga, the agreement:
- includes investments of €150 million (approximately $164 million) over four years for Ukraine's recovery;
- allows the Belgian development agency Enabel to participate in the reconstruction of affected regions in the country, focusing initially on Kyiv and Chernihiv regions;
- involves cooperation in restoring critical infrastructure and providing comfortable shelters in schools.
The first tranche of €20 million (approximately $21.88 million) will be directed towards decentralized energy installations in Kyiv and its suburbs. Specifically, Brussels plans to support the restoration of generators and solar panels in medical facilities and schools.
